and speaking of... (updated!)

ah-ha! i have added the pics, finally... enjoy

looking about the house, i realize…
i have an abundace of seating that needs love
in my life right now.

An ugly (but cozy! honest!) craigslist chair... made to look nice with right blanket...for now.

4 Pub table chairs, also from craigslist, nice shape and frame, but needs new covers. I have begun to take apart one of them (there are only three of us, so no big rush, right?) to see how it is made, and calculate what it would take to give them a whole new look. ... and the table too! - another day, another post.

And a mushroom stool, a Goodwill find...bought for a theatre production, then regifted back to me... way groovy in its former glory... but a little faded and worn to suit my taste these days.

*walks away from computer screen, refills hot beverage, grabs Cannon Powershot... ready to enhance readability of post with photos... powers up...
"WHAT?!? change the batteries!?... O nevermind! I'll steal some from the remote."
*opens back of remote
"WHAT?!? I already did that!...Fine!"
*leaves 'brb, walking to store' message on IM,
begins hunt for shoes.

after an intense cleaning/sanding/staining session, a trip to the hardware store, and a good rummage through the fabric pile oooh and a good hour hand carving the new back panel to slide into place (can't forget about that!) we have this wonderful...

cello chair!

little budget
little elbow grease
big bargain
big smile

miss lynn learns to knit

finally!
i have been promising myself, oregon winter after oregon winter, that i would learn some yarn skill. My Mum and both my sisters learned to knit recently and the crafty trio have be crocheting for quite sometime (kid sis has actually been dubbed a crochet ninja in honor for the speed at which she can stitch). They hand-craft mini and full-size blankets, scarf after scarf, and Mum has practiced to perfection the art of crochet hats... I have, *sigh* sadly, had to be the guinea pig for most of the styles (oh darn!).
after unwrapping some kniffty supplies that Sister Santa put in my stocking and a quick view of the DVD hans bought for himself last winter (that's right mister!, your secret's out!), i decided it was time to put away the procrastination and get out the yarn!

I started small, very small... a scarf....
for my niece... my 8 month old niece.
after completing the yarn work, i added some variegated green embroidery floss for a little extra color and texture.
check.
it.
out!

i have since then completed another, this time for a big person (hahah! well sort of... myself) and
i am just o so pleased with my self... and am gonna keep knititng away!
